Dicen que Dios hizo una maqueta del paraíso y que una vez construido éste, conservó la maqueta… naciendo así San Sebastián. Para comprender (y disfrutar) la belleza natural de San Sebastián, comenzaremos en lo alto del monte Igueldo desde donde se obtienen las vistas más alucinantes de la ciudad. Allí conoceremos algo de la historia del País Vasco, la bahía de Bizkaia y el papel de San Sebastián en todo ello. ¿Puede alguien hacerse rico comerciando con lana? Sí. ¿Se fabricaban en la Euskadi del siglo XVI barcos de una calidad y reputación similar a la que tienen actualmente los coches de Ferrari y Porsche? También.

Combing the wind

Existe la posibilidad de descender de Igueldo a bordo de su funicular de madera con más de 100 años de edad. Nos dejará junto a la escultura más fotografiada de la ciudad: el Peine del Viento de Eduardo Chillida, construida en acero corten (de ahí su color óxido, ¡no está estropeada!) para arañar los vientos y las olas frecuentes en este lugar.

Kings, Queens and Surfers

Marcharemos hasta el otro ‘Finis Terrae’ de la ciudad, Sagüés y la Zurriola, epicentro de la movida surfera de San Sebastián pero antes conoceremos las principales señas de identidad de la ciudad: su lado ‘posh’, su área romántica, el palacio construido para albergar los veraneos reales a finales del siglo XIX (el Palacio de Miramar), los edificios afrancesados, modernistas y racionalistas (encontraremos algún que otro guiño a la Bauhaus) o la arquitectura más reciente como el Kursaal, dos edificios que simulan ser rocas varadas junto al mar.

Old part, new habits

La Parte Vieja es el epicentro gastronómico de San Sebastián (sí, aquí están los bares de pintxos, las sociedades gastronómicas, la gente haciendo ‘txikiteo’, pidiendo ‘zuritos’ o ‘cañas’, aquí está el San Sebastián glotón del que te han hablado) y el lugar en el que se encuentran los edificios más antiguos de la ciudad. Te daremos un máster sobre cómo desenvolverte en el mundo de la cocina en miniatura (¿cómo se pide un pintxo? ¿cuándo se paga? ¿se come con las manos o con cubiertos?) y los bares vascos para que puedas conseguir la matrícula de honor.

Ok. Hablemos de cosas serias. Todo esto que te hemos contado de los pintxos no tendría sentido si no visitáramos tres bares más icónicos para probar sus pintxos más famosos acompañados de sidra, vino o cerveza. El picoteo terminará con el postre dulce que los donostiarras adoran comer mientras pasean por la calle: un cremoso, golosa y despampanante helado artesano. Tras ello, podrás ir satisfecho a la cama.

Ernes was very informative , interesting, and pretty funny which made this a most enjoyable experience.
